Regarding the recent news about the future opening of a Hotel in Cape San Antonio (Costa Blanca) we would like to seize this opportunity and write about this stunning area considered one of the great wonders of Valencia region (even of Spain).

The Nature Reserve of Cabo de San Antonio is located between the villages of Jávea and Denia.  We can reach this area from the sea, by foot, by mountain bike and by car.

We recommend visiting the area from the sea, and especially by boat or kayak. We can easily access to the natural reserve park by kayak from Las Rotas beach (Denia) and from Javea´s Yacht Club. You will discover many marine caves during the trip. “The Cova Tallada” (Cova Tallà) is  a perfect place to leave the kayak and sunbathing. This area offers a unique flora and fauna, we can get to see coral, octopuses, groupers etc…

Cova tallà

If you are more into hiking, we recommend two routes. Starting at the end of Playa de las Rotas in Denia  you can take the road to tower Cherro (Torre del Cherro). From that spot you can reach cape San Antonio Lighthouse in approximately 1 hour. For an alternative easier walk you can turn on the left hand side and you will reachCova Tallada” (Cova Tallà) in 20 minutes.

Cruce Cova Tallà

For those in better shape we highly recommend to enjoy a stunning longer route which takes you from “Torre del Cherro” through a hiking trail that leads to the summit of Cape San Antonio. Throughout this route you can enjoy amazing views of the Mediterranean sea and Montgó hill.

Javea

From Javea we recommend taking the trail from the Yacht Club to the Cape San Antonio´s lighthouse. The views from the top are unbeatable, you will see Jávea’s Bay, the Portixol ….even on sky clear days you could get to see the island of Ibiza on the horizon.

If you are coming up to the cape by bike, motorcycle and car, the best access to Cape San Antonio is through” Les Planes Road”, this road connects the villages of Denia and Javea ( the views are  breathtaking). Once at the top there is a indication sign to take the road to the lighthouse.
